College Acceptance


Schaeffer Academy seniors leave the school well-prepared for the challenges of faith and academics.  Previous graduates are pursuing careers in medicine, law, academia and business.  For a full list of colleges where our students have been accepted, click here. What do Schaeffer Academy students do after graduation?

  • About 94% go directly to four year colleges
  • 4% begin at community college (usually Rochester Community & Technical College) and transfer
  • 1% go directly to vocational school
  • 1% go to work after high school

What colleges do they attend?

  • The majority of students attend universities in the midwest (Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin).
  • Many choose Christian colleges like Northwestern in St. Paul, Bethel University, Liberty University in Virginia, or Wheaton College in Illinois.
  • Many choose large state institutions (U of M, UW Madison, Iowa State, NDSU).

How well are they prepared for college?

  • Students report they are very well prepared academically, especially in writing skills and critical thinking.

What does Schaeffer Academy do to prepare for college entrance?

  • Tenth graders take the PLAN (practice ACT with a career tool) and practice taking the PSAT
  • Eleventh graders take the PSAT/NMSQT (practice SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)
  • Typically AP exams are administered in 3-7 subjects for juniors and seniors
  • The average ACT score for the 2016 graduating class was 27.2
  • The average SAT score for the 2016 graduating class was 1946 (reading, writing, and math)
