What do you teach in kindergarten?

  • 3 main subjects are phonics/reading, math, and handwriting

What's included in the enrichment half-day program?

What are the hours for kindergarten?

  • The full-day option has the same hours as grades 1-12 (7:45 am - 2:50 pm)
  • Late Start Kindergarten is 11:50 am - 2:50 pm
  • School busing is available in Rochester for mornings and afternoons.

Who is the teacher?

  • Ms. Linda Davis has taught kindergarten at Schaeffer since 2008.  She has almost 20 years of teaching experience, and provides a calm, orderly, loving classroom atmosphere.

How do I apply?

  • Your child must be five by September 1 of the year for which you wish to apply.
  • Complete an Early Childhood Developmental Screening (required by the state of Minnesota) through the school district in which you reside. Please provide a copy of the screening to Schaeffer Academy at the time of application. In Rochester, these free screenings are conducted weekly. To schedule, please call the Records and Registration office at 507-285-8585.
  • Download and complete the application form and submit it, along with the applicable fees, to the school office.
