School Faculty Bios

Mrs. Nola Aderton, fifth-grade teacher, holds a B.A. in Literature and Elementary Education from Bethel College. She has been with Schaeffer since 2003 and has taught both fifth and sixth grades during that time.

Mr. Philip Arant, a graduate of Dartmouth College in Biology, teaches Science to sophomores and juniors and Theology to Grades 9-11. Mr. Arant, hired in 1999, has served as an Upper School Administrator and was instrumental in designing our science instruction program in the past decade.

Mrs. Kimberly Clapp, third-grade teacher, received a B.A. in Education and Bible from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University in Mankato. Mrs. Clapp has taught here since 2006.

Mr. Daniel Daugherty teaches English to freshmen and sophomores and History and Philosophy to seniors. He is also the Yearbook advisor. Mr. Daugherty holds a B.S. in Journalism with a minor in English from Ball State University and a M.A. in Christian Thought from Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando. He has taught here since 2007. 

Ms. Linda Davis teaches our academic, half-day kindergarten and holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Sioux Falls. She has been teaching kindergarten at Schaeffer Academy since 2008, but she also previously taught here for six years in another elementary grade.

Mrs. Roni Decker teaches fifth grade and holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Concordia College. She has taught both fifth and sixth grade at Schaeffer Academy since she was hired in 2005.

Dr. Wayne Deckert, Biology teacher, holds a B.S. in Natural Science from Minot State University, a M.S. in Biology from University of Nebraska, Omaha and a D.A. in Biology from University of North Dakota. Dr. Deckert has more than 40 years of teaching experience at the college level and has been teaching at Schaeffer Academy since 2009.  He also serves as assistant volleyball coach. 

Mrs. Deborah Dikeman, first-grade teacher, holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska and a M.A. in Educational Administration from the University of Wyoming. She has more than 25 years of experience in elementary teaching and administration and has been at Schaeffer Academy since 2008.

Mrs. Diane Doda teaches 7th and 8th grade Science and 8th and 9th grade Logic. She holds a B.A. in Biology from St. Olaf College, a B.S. in Physical Therapy from University of Minnesota, and a M.A. in Education from Augsburg College. Mrs. Doda has been teaching here since 2010.

Mrs. Marsha Gee is a Classroom Aide and currently oversees several Latin Independent Study classes. She is also our Scrip Program coordinator.

Mrs. Mary Goedhart is teaching fourth grade. As one of the school’s original founders, she also was instrumental in starting Schaeffer Academy and served in the early days as a Board member. Mrs. Goedhart holds a B.S. and a M.A. in Elementary Education from Northern Michigan University and has taught here since 2000.

Mrs. Karen Graham directs the Schaeffer Instrumental Music Program. She teaches the Band and Strings electives for the Upper School, Music Appreciation, and directs a variety of instrumental music ensembles. Mrs. Graham also teaches Elementary Band and Strings, which are optional classes for grades 4-6. She holds a B.S. in Music Education and Bible from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College.

Mrs. Michelle Harris teaches 8th-grade English and 4th-grade Latin. She holds a B.S in English Education and Bible from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and a M.A. in English from North Dakota State University. She has taught here since 2009.

Mr. Rich Harris teaches History to the freshman, sophomore and junior classes. He holds a B.S. in History Education and Bible from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and a M.S. in History from North Dakota State University. Mr. Harris, one of our longest-serving faculty, has taught here since 1995. Mr. Harris also serves as our head volleyball coach.

Mrs. Melody Hunskor, sixth-grade teacher, earned a B.S. in Bible from Grace College of Bible and a B.S. in Elementary Education from University of North Dakota. She came to Schaeffer in 1998 with 15 years of previous teaching experience and has taught both fifth and sixth grade here.

Mr. Chris Jensen teaches 7th grade English, junior British Literature, and senior Ancient Literature and Modern Literature. He holds a B.S. in English and Secondary Education from St. Cloud State University and has 13 years of previous teaching experience. He has been at Schaeffer since 2012.

Mr. Jim Kluth is a long-standing Schaeffer teacher, having been at Schaeffer since 1995. He holds a B.A. in English from St. Olaf College and teaches Latin to grades 3 and 5-9. Mr. Kluth has also directed many Schaeffer drama productions through the years.

Mrs. Katie Lanners, second grade teacher, holds a B.S. in Special Education from UW Eau Claire and comes to us from Lanesboro Elementary, where she taught for four years. She has been at Schaeffer Academy since 2012.

Mr. Steve Lewis teaches AP Calculus and AP Physics I and AP Physics C. He holds both a B.S. and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. Mr. Lewis came to us after a distinguished career at IBM, and he currently teaches at RCTC in addition to his Schaeffer teaching duties.

Mrs. Kady Monson joined our teaching staff in 2012 and teaches Math for grades 7, 8, 10 and 11. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics Education with a Coaching Minor from University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and has 5 years of previous teaching experience. Mrs. Monson also coaches our varsity tennis team.

Mrs. Debbie Montalvo joined our staff as the Special Education Coordinator and Testing Coordinator in 2014. In 2016, she took on the role of girls PE for 7-12 grades. She holds a degree in Special Education from Purdue and has taught elementary and high school throughout her career. 

Mr. Jeffrey Morgan teaches Elementary Physical Education for grades K-6 and Boys’ Physical Education for grades 7-12. He holds a B.S. in Physical Education from Crown College and a M.S. in Physical Education from Minnesota State College, Mankato. Mr. Morgan also coaches the varsity baseball team.

Rev. Tim Nelson teaches 7th and 8th grade Theology. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from University of North Dakota and a M.Div. from Bethel Theological Seminary. He has been a pastor since 1993 and currently serves as the Executive Pastor of Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rochester.

Mrs. Kanae Nord teaches Spanish I, II and III. She grew up in Quito, Ecuador and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elective Studies with a Spanish minor from St. Cloud State University. She also works at Mayo Clinic as a Certified Healthcare Interpreter.

Mr. Ryan Pacyna is teaching 2nd grade. He holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Northland International University where he has also done graduate work in cross cultural studies. Mr. Pacyna taught English in China to 1st through 5th grade students. He joined our staff in 2013 and has taught 2nd and 4th grades here. 

Mrs. Jen Pauley joined our staff this year as the Elementary Art and 7-8th Grade Studio Art teacher. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design from UW Stout and worked for many years as a professional graphic designer. She has also been a home-school co-op art teacher for 3 years. 

Mr. Keith Phillips teaches senior Theology and senior Rhetoric in addition to his role as Headmaster. He holds a B.A. in Religion from Bosb Jones University and a M.A. in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University. Mr. Phillips came to Schaeffer Academy from Hawaii in 1997.

Mrs. Ramie Phillips has been teaching history classes at Schaeffer since 2002 and currently teaches 7th and 8th grade History as well as junior year Rhetoric. She holds a B.A. in Social Studies Education from Bob Jones University.

Mrs. Lori Quam teaches fourth grade and holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Winona State University. Hired in 2004, Mrs. Quam has taught both fourth and second grades here.

Mrs. Amy Rector is our Kindergarten Enrichment teacher. She has taught this class since 2010 and previously taught fourth grade here. Mrs. Rector holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Winona State.

Dr. Katherine Schultz teaches the 11th grade Functions/Statistics/Trig Math class while serving as the Associate Headmaster. She holds a B.A. in English from Lawrence University, a M.Ed. in Christian Education from Regent University and an Ed.D. in Christian Education Leadership from Regent University.

Mrs. Heather Swartz has been an art teacher at Schaeffer since 2009. She currently teaches Studio Art to grades 9-12 and Art Appreciation as well as 9th grade Math. She holds a B.F.A. in K-12 Art Education and a B.S. in Applied Science, both from University of Minnesota, Duluth. 

Mrs. Mary Vogel directs our Choral Music Program, teaching Music to grades K-6 and elective choir classes for grades 7-12. She also teaches Latin to grades K-1. Mrs. Vogel has been at Schaeffer since 2006 and holds a B.A. in Ministries/Music from University of Northwestern-St. Paul.
