Lower School Faculty 2017-2018

Kindergarten: Ms. Linda Davis holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Sioux Falls. She has been teaching kindergarten at Schaeffer Academy since 2008, but she also previously taught here for six years in another elementary grade.

1st Grade: Mrs. Deborah Dikeman holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska and a M.A. in Educational Administration from the University of Wyoming. She has more than 25 years of experience in elementary teaching and administration and has been at Schaeffer Academy since 2008.

2nd Grade: Mrs. Nola Aderton holds a B.A. in Literature and Elementary Education from Bethel College. With teaching experience at other Christian schools, Mrs. Aderton came to Schaeffer in 2003. She has taught both 5th and 6th Grade during that time.

3rd Grade: Mrs. Kimberly Clapp received a B.A. in Education and Bible from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University in Mankato. Mrs. Clapp has taught here since 2006. She has taught 2nd and 3rd Grade in that time.

4th Grade: Mrs. Lori Quam holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Winona State University. After teaching in a public school for several years, Mrs. Quam came to Schaeffer in 2004. She has taught 2nd, 4th, and 6th Grade here.

5th Grade: Mrs. Roni Decker holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Concordia College. She has taught both 5th and 6th Grade at Schaeffer Academy since she was hired in 2005.

6th Grade: Mrs. Melody Hunskor earned a B.S. in Bible from Grace College of Bible and a B.S. in Elementary Education from University of North Dakota. She came to Schaeffer in 1998 with 15 years of previous teaching experience and has taught both 5th and 6th Grade here.

Upper School and Specialist Faculty 2017-2018

Mr. Philip Arant holds a B.S. in Biology from Dartmouth College. He teaches 10th and 11th Grade Science, 9th Grade Math, and 9th through 11th Grade Theology. Mr. Arant has been a part of the Schaeffer Academy faculty since 1999 and has served as an Upper School Administrator. He was instrumental in designing our science program.

Mr. Daniel Daugherty holds a B.S. in Journalism with a minor in English from Ball State University and a M.A. in Christian Thought from Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando. He teaches 9th through 12th Grade English. Mr. Daugherty He has taught here since 2007.

Dr. Wayne Deckert holds a B.S. in Natural Science from Minot State University, a M.S. in Biology from University of Nebraska, Omaha and a D.A. in Biology from University of North Dakota. He teaches 9th Grade Biology. Dr. Deckert has more than 40 years of teaching experience at the college level and has been teaching at Schaeffer Academy since 2009. He also serves as assistant volleyball coach.

Mrs. Diane Doda holds a B.A. in Biology from St. Olaf College, a B.S. in Physical Therapy from University of Minnesota, and a M.A. in Education from Augsburg College. She teaches 7th and 8th Grade Science and 8th and 9th Grade Logic. Mrs. Doda has been teaching here since 2010.

Mrs. Michelle Harris holds a B.S in English Education and Bible from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and a M.A. in English from North Dakota State University. She teaches 8th Grade English and 4th Grade Latin. She has taught here since 2009 and has previous experience in American and international Christian schools.

Mr. Rich Harris holds a B.S. in History Education and Bible from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and a M.S. in History from North Dakota State University. He teaches 9th through 12th Grade History. Mr. Harris has taught here since 1996 and has previous experience in American and international Christian schools. He also serves as our head volleyball coach.

Mr. Jim Kluth holds a B.A. in English from St. Olaf College. He teaches 2nd and 3rd Grade Latin, 5th through 9th Grade Latin, and 7th Grade English. He also teaches English to 7th Grade. Mr. Kluth has been at Schaeffer since 1995. He has also directed many Schaeffer drama productions through the years.

Mrs. Katie Lanners holds a B.S. in Special Education from UW Eau Claire. She runs the Before & After School Program. Mrs. Lanners taught for four years prior to coming to Schaeffer Academy in 2012 and has taught 1st and 2nd Grade here.

Mr. Steve Lewis holds both a B.S. and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. He teaches AP Calculus, AP Physics I, and AP Physics C. Mr. Lewis came to Schaeffer Academy in 2010 after a distinguished career at IBM. He also teaches at Rochester Community and Technical College.

Mrs. Kady Monson holds a B.S. in Mathematics Education with a Coaching Minor from University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. She teaches 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th Grade Math. Mrs. Monson came to Schaeffer Academy in 2012 with 5 years of previous teaching experience. She also coaches our varsity tennis team.

Mrs. Debbie Montalvo holds a B.S. in Special Education from Purdue University. She is Schaeffer Academy’s Special Education Coordinator and teaches 7th through 12th Grade Girls’ Physical Education. Mrs. Montalvo joined our faculty in 2014 with prior experience as both an elementary and a high school teacher.

Mr. Jeffrey Morgan holds a B.S. in Physical Education from Crown College and a M.S. in Physical Education from Minnesota State, Mankato. He is Schaeffer Academy's Athletic Director. He also teaches K through 6th Grade Physical Education and 7th through 12th Grade Boys’ Physical Education. Mr. Morgan came to Schaeffer in 2006 having prior experience in teaching and coaching in Christian high schools and a Christian college. Mr. Morgan also coaches the varsity baseball team at Schaeffer.

Rev. Tim Nelson holds a B.S. in Accounting from University of North Dakota and a M.Div. from Bethel Theological Seminary. He teaches 7th and 8th Grade Theology. Mr. Nelson has been a pastor since 1993 and currently serves as the Executive Pastor of Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rochester.

Mrs. Kanae Nord earned a B.S. degree in Elective Studies with a Spanish minor from St. Cloud State University. She teaches Spanish I, II and III. Mrs. Nord grew up in Quito, Ecuador. She joined the Schaeffer Faculty in 2012 and also works at the Mayo Clinic as a Certified Healthcare Interpreter.

Mrs. Jen Pauley holds a BFA in Graphic Design from UW Stout. She teaches K through 6th Grade Art, 7th through 8th Grade Studio Art, and 9th through 12th Grade Yearbook. Mrs. Pauley joined our faculty in 2016. Prior to Schaeffer, she worked for many years as a professional graphic designer. She was also a home-school co-op art teacher for three years.

Mr. Keith Phillips holds a B.A. in Church Ministries from Bob Jones University and a M.A. in Educational Policy and Leadership from The Ohio State University. He teaches Senior Theology in addition to his role as Headmaster. Mr. Phillips came to Schaeffer Academy in 1997 after five years on the faculty and administration of a Christian school in Hawaii.

Mrs. Ramie Phillips holds a B.A. in Social Studies Education from Bob Jones University. She teaches 7th and 8th grade History as well as Rhetoric I and II. She has been teaching here since 2002. Prior to Schaeffer, Mrs. Phillips taught at Christian schools in Hawaii and Ohio.

Dr. Katherine Schultz holds a B.A. in English from Lawrence University, a M.Ed. in Christian Education from Regent University and an Ed.D. in Christian Education Leadership from Regent University. She teaches the 11th grade Functions/Statistics/Trig Math class while serving as the Associate Headmaster. After many years of experience in several Christian schools, Dr. Schultz came to Schaeffer in 2006.

Mrs. Heather Swartz holds a B.F.A. in K-12 Art Education and a B.S. in Applied Science, both from University of Minnesota, Duluth. She currently teaches 7th through 12th Grade Studio Art and 9th Grade Art Appreciation. Mrs. Swartz has been an art teacher at Schaeffer since 2009.

Mrs. Mary Vogel holds a B.A. in Ministries/Music from University of Northwestern-St. Paul. Mrs. Vogel directs our Choral Music Program, teaching K through 6th Grade Music, 7th through 12th Grade elective choir, and 7th and 10th grade music appreciation. She also teaches K and 1st Grade Latin. Mrs. Vogel has been at Schaeffer since 2006.
