Athletics
Overview
Athletics at Schaeffer Academy help our students learn cooperation and teamwork, while working diligently to accomplish a common goal. They provide competition in a safe environment and help teach the ability to win and lose gracefully. It's our intention that sports teams representing our school would also represent Christ in an honorable way.
Schaeffer Academy is a member of the MN State High School League (MSHSL) and offers the the sports listed below. Visit www.mshsl.org for game information and directions and Schaeffer's main calendar for current game schedules.
Fall
Girls Volleyball
Played August to October, currently with three teams: Varsity, JV and Middle School, coached by Mr. Rich Harris and assistants.
Boys Soccer
Open to qualified players in grades 7-12 and is played September - October. Our Head Coach is Mr. Todd Nagel.
Girls Soccer
Open to girls in grades 7-12, coached by Mr. Lynn Waggie. Captains' practice begins in early August and official practice begins mid-August. .
Cross Country
Open to students in grades 7-12 and coached by Miss Lindsay Johnson. Meets take place around SE Minnesota in late August through October.
Winter
Girls Basketball (grades 5-12)
Played November through March. Schaeffer Academy has four levels: Varsity, JV, Junior High and Elementary. Kevin Lash serves as the Head Coach.
Boys Basketball (grades 5-12)
Played November through March. Schaeffer Academy has four levels: Varsity, JV, Junior High and Elementary. Tom Bance serves as the Head Coach.
Spring
Boys Baseball
Played April through June, for qualified boys in grades 7-12. Jeff Morgan serves as the Head Coach.
Girls Softball
Played April through June, for qualified girls in grades 7-12. Kevin Lash serves as the Head Coach.
Tennis
Open to boys and girls in grades 6-12. Practice is typically held at Kutzky Park. The coach is Mrs. Kady Monson.
